Henrietta Moyer Cowgill
Henrietta Moyer Cowgill, 88, of Richwood died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at the Wintersong Village Nursing Home in Delaware.
She was a 1931 graduate of Richwood High School and a graduate of Marion Business College. She ran a floral business where she also did ceramics and she worked at the Richwood Banking Company for more than 15 years. During World War II, she worked in war plants in California and Marion. She was a dedicated lifetime member of the Richwood First Baptist Church where she served as church secretary for many years. She was a 50-year member and Past Worthy Matron of Mount Carmel chapter 42 OES of Rich-wood and was a talented seamstress who enjoyed knitting, crocheting and painting.
She was born Jan. 11, 1913, in Richwood to the late Charles R. and Lloa Griffith Moyer and was predeceased by three brothers, Joy, Glenn and John Moyer. She married Arthur Sullivan on July 17, 1938, in Greenup, Ky., and he died in May 1966. She then married Vernon R. Cowgill on June 22, 1970, and he died March 17, 1998.
She is survived by a sister, Janice Moyer Sparks of Delaware, numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Gina North; and a very dedicated church family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood. The Rev. Barb Stevens will officiate and burial will be at the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where an Eastern Star service will be held .at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Richwood First Baptist Church or the Richwood Civic Center.
