Janis Jean Davis
Janis Jean DavisJanis Jean Davis, 82, of Magnetic Springs died peacefully Wednesday evening, March 12, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving and devoted family.

She was born September 22, 1925 in Leesburg Twp. to the late Eldon Jennings and Dorothy D. (Daniels) Ballard.

On October 19, 1946 she married Robert L. Davis in Greenup, KY and he died October 2, 1989.

She was a member of the Magnetic Springs United Methodist Church.   She was retired from the Ohio Quarter Horse Association where she had worked as a secretary for 25 years.  She was active in the Republican Party and served on the election board.   Janis had been an avid antique collector for over 60 years, having begun her collection when she was 18.  She was known to be a ferocious card player, especially bridge, having earned the status of Master Player.  She had sharpened her card playing skills early in life at the Ballard Hotel in Magnetic Springs, which was owned by her parents.   Her life now revolved around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, Ty (Connie) Davis, Richwood; two daughters, Tonya Payne, Magnetic Springs; Tara (Keith) Powers, Richwood; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bette L. (Lloyd) Cox, Columbus.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 3:00 PM in the Magnetic Springs United Methodist Church where friends may call 1 hour prior to the service.  Rev. Patricia Stout will officiate and burial will be in Claibourne Cemetery.

Im am so sorry to hear of your mothers passing.  I applaud you for your devotion and loyalty to your mother and the care you gave to her.  You are an outstanding daughter and friend to her.  Take peace in knowing she will be watching over you from Heaven.  Please do not hesitate to call for anything you may need, please!..

Tonya, Ty and Tara, I just found out today your Mom passed away- - she was like a second mother to me and I loved her very much.  I'm so sorry I did not make it to the funeral home but I wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are wtih you guys..you were like a brother and sisters to me and I have lots of good memories.
