Lois Jeffers Parish
Alaska-sealLois Jeffers Parish, age 88, Anchorage, Alaska resident, died peacefully March 13, 2008 at Marlow Manor with her daughter, Providence Hospice and Marlow Manor staff at her side. Her funeral service will be held March 22, 2008 at 3:00 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Her son Michael Parish will officiate.Calling hours one hour before service.  Burial in the LaRue Cemetery beside her husband Dale.

Lois, the daughter of the late John and Elsie Jeffers, was born May 14, 1919 in Woodsfield, Ohio.  She moved with her family to a farm near Green Camp, Ohio where she attended elementary and high school, participating in sports, music, and theater.  Lois graduated from Green Camp High School in 1936.  She attended business school and worked at the Marion, Ohio US Rubber Plant.  She married Dale Edgar Parish on April 6, 1944 in Green Camp.  After World War II, they lived in LaRue, Ohio. In 1960, with a adventurous spirit, they packed up all their belongings and kids and moved to Anchorage.  Dale worked as an electrician and Lois a homemaker.  Dale was killed in a plane crash in 1969 near Sparrevohn and then she moved to Salem, Oregon so her boys could attend a Christian school. She returned to Anchorage in 1986 to live near her daughter.

Lois was a wonderful wife and mother, as well as an accomplished pianist and vocalist who performed at church functions.  Her family wrote “Lois was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma and great-grandma (gg). She loved sewing, church activities, puzzles, reading, and cooking. She will be missed by all who knew her.”

She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Glenn and Diana Rose of Anchorage, AK; Stephen Parish of Charleston, IL; John and Louise Parish of Valdez, AK; Mike and Karen Parish of Wilmington, NC; Jeff and Karen Parish of Charleston, IL; her grandchildren: Brent and Kelley Covey-Rose, Jeremiah and Kristine Oh, Benjamin Rose; Kathryn Parish; Natalie and David John Lawrence, Katharine Parish; Stephen, Jonathan and Brien Parish; McKenna, Riley, Shannon, Wesley, Aislinn and Janelle Parish.  She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Bobby Dean Covey-Rose and Jazmine and Jered Oh.

To the family of Lois Parish,      I only met your mother one time as I remember. a 1 o'clock appointment will keep me from calling hours but wanted to express my sympathy to your family.  I was a sister-in-law to Bernice Clunk,  my huband was Bill.  My deepest sympathy to you all.

I met aunt lois when she visited mom and dad in haines city, fl.  My mother was so happy she was there with her. I have always thought of her often. I want my cousins to know I am thinking of them at this time.
