Paul E. Newman
Paul E. NewmanPaul “Curly” Newman, 92 of Richwood, died Sunday evening, November 23, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born August 10, 1916 in Marion to the late Frank and Flora (Hamilton) Newman.

On January 30, 1938 he married the former Rose Cramer in Richmond, Indiana and she died January 14, 2001.

He was baptized in and was a member of the Richwood Church of Christ.  He and his wife, Rose had been the owners/operators of the former Newman’s Meat Market in Richwood.  After that, he was a corrections officer at the Marion Correctional Institution.  Paul was an avid gardener and enjoyed working outside in the yard.  He used to love riding Cushman scooters and go-carts with his family.

He is survived by two daughters, Rosalee (Robert) Armstrong, Columbus; Karen Bump, Richwood; 10 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by a son, Fred; two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Richwood Church of Christ with Pastors Matt Craig and Todd Nordquist officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Richwood Church of Christ 2 hours prior to the service beginning at noon.
