Dear family,
I was saddened to see that Mildred passed away. When I moved to Centerville-Prospect Rd. I had only known her as part of the church family but she became a good friend and neighbor to me and my children. In the years before I moved to Arizona, we looked out for each other in many ways. She loved her home and family. I am pleased she was able to stay in her home during her last years and I commend all of you for giving her that chance. You have lost your mother. My children and I have lost a friend. My thoughts, prayers and love go across the miles as you celebrate the life of a very strong, willful and lovely lady. All of my family including Tom and Peggy Knickel and my father, Lester Daugherty send their condolences to you.

She was the wife of Weldon Mc Neil, a distant cousin to me on the Meeker Bottenfield father of Carey Judson Bottenfield, my Grandfather.  They welcomed me and my 2 sisters into their home that Meeker Bottenfield built when we were in Prospect attending The Hedges Reunion, Hannah Hedges married C.J. Bottenfield who were the parents of my mother.
Mildred lived a long interesting life and contributed much to the community.

Dear McNeal "kids",
My mom has already told you how our family felt about Mildred. However, I want to add that she was special to me because she was my 3rd grade teacher. In the past two years, Mildred and I e-mailed each other quite a few times and we would share memories. Whenever I would hear from her, I was so tickled to be corresponding with my "old" teacher! I was amazed at how well she typed and how fast she responded to me. I truly hope that if I make it to 97 years-old like she did, I can be as active and vital as she was in the last years of her amazing life. I know you will miss her a lot and even though I am 2,000 miles away, I will miss her too.
All of you are in my daily thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Oehler

Mrs. McNeal was my third grade teacher at Prospect Elementary.  She is a wonderful lady and a was very patient teacher.  Although I was only 8 years old, and I'm now 48, I still have very fond memories of her.  She was one of my favorite teachers.  I think it is a testiment to her character that someone like me, who was not a fan of school, to remember her in such a positive sense.  The world is a much better place because of people like Mrs. McNeal.  She will be sadly missed.

Dear Peggy and family:

Please accept my sincere sympathy in the loss of your mother.  How I remember the times I visited your farm and the "BEES."  Never forgot them. Your mother was a great teacher, etc. and sometimes a little "scary."  But when I think back she was probably right when she would get upset with us.  My sympathy to all your family.

I would like to offer my condolences to the family of Mildred McNeal. She was my next door neighbor and third grade teacher at Prospect Elementory. I have fond memories of the many classroom activities that she conducted. We learned about how bees made honey and how to make candles, among other things. Mildred truely had an enthusiasm for learning and for life. She enriched my life and will be missed.

Barbara Ann, Juanita, Peggy & Nathan,  Can't tell you how sad it makes me to know I didn't get to see your mother one last time.  And we are still in Fl., leaving tomorrow for home.  Mildred was very special to me.  We enjoyed many good teaching years, and times of fellowship.  And you "kids" are very special to me also.  Remember the wedding cakes I made for you girls?  Because of my friendship with your mother.  God bless you all.  Grandchildren, too.
