I have known Ted since we were kids growing up on the south end of town. I would go to his house and play and ride his horses. A few years ago we had an opportunity to reminisce about ourhappy go lucky days as kids. He always seemed to love life and everyone in it. We should all take a lesson from him. Everyone will miss him.

I am so sorry to hear about Ted. I have only known Ted for about 3 years. I met him at Union County AP when he was getting his license to fly his ultralight airplane with the full approval of the FAA. I remember the time he came to the airport with Patricia and introduced her to the usual crowd. This strange looking guy knew all of us but I did not recognize him, he had just shaved off his beard and I did not know who he was. I like Ted, he was a good guy. All of us at the airport will miss him.

My prayers are with the family. When I was a college student, I worked with Mr. Reynolds along with my dad, uncle, and cousin at Parker Hannifin as part of the college work program. As a small braider operator, I sometimes needed help from maintenance. Mr. Reynolds was so nice and always willing to help. He also encouraged all of us to continue with our education. Again, my prayers are with your family, and Ted may you continue to learn only now with the angels.

I wanted you all to know that Trish is doing well. She had a second surgery today. Her first was right after the accident Sunday night. About 5 1/2 hours to put a pin in her left hip, 3 screws in her left knee bone which was crushed, and an external fixation device to stablize the tibia and fibula of her right lower leg which was an open wound due to the bones breaking through the skin. Today was to put a rod in the tibia and a mesh of some sort to help her bone heal. She has early osteoporosis and they are hoping the tibia heals faster with the mesh. If it does, they will got back and do something similar for the fibula. If it doesn't, they will need to do something different for it. She is in and out with the meds, but finally cried a bit today when she understood that she would get to see Dad before he is cremated and spread to the four corners of Richwood from an airplane...SO TED! =) She wakes often and talks about losing her guy or telling me I lost my Daddy.
She will be able to see him on Monday at OSU because of the incredible people there working to make it happen and Gregg and Kyle. I really just wanted to give people an update on Mom so you didn't have to worry so much! You all are amazing, I love reading the stories and so will Mom when she is ready. I can't wait to share them with my children when they are ready, too! =)

For Ted's Family I knew Ted because his mother who was so proud of him would tell our little genealogy group about him and the rest of his family. I also primarly knew Betsy this way. However I was subbing in a classroom one day when Betsy (a high school senior) was working with some fourth grade students. I was very impressed with her professionalism and I knew she would make a good teacher. I could see that Betsy was a good strong take charge person who I now believe will be able to stand by Trish and help her mend. My sympathy goes to Grandma Ila, Betsy, Trish and the rest of Ted's family. I know you are strong people who will help one another get through this dreadful event.

Betsy and Trish, Words can't express the heavy heart we are caring. We will miss Ted so much. Bob and Ted use to drag race together, had a lot of good times. There wasn't anything Ted couldn't fix or at least try. Any time Bob needed welding or something fixed it would be Ted.He would plow snow out of our driveway without even coming in and we always new it was Ted with his big beast of a tractor. I went to Ted and Trish's wedding. I always think of them when I hear the song (I will always love you) by John Montgomery. They were so happy. Remember the aircraft he ditched in Morrow county. It wasn't his time. God has a special place for him. Thanks Betsy for the updates on Trish our prayers are with you all. We pray for a complete recovery. Ted will be sadly missed by all of Richwood and the community.Richwood has lost another good man. Love and prayers, Bob and Carolyn

Dear Betsy and Trish,
You know, I struggle to write this, as I am not a great writer. I let my actions speak louder than words. I am hear for you both, no need to even ask. Ted would be here for us too if the situation was reversed. Such a good man he was. He loved life and was very comfortable in his own shoes.
We are so very sorry for you all. I wish God didn't need all the great ones.....

Ted will be sadly missed by us. He and Rick have known each other since 1972 and they've shared many good times together. I've known Ted for many years as well first meeting him through Betsy since we were in school together. Many times Ted came in for lunch at the hotel and would sit with Rick, Matt and I without hesitation. He would always tell a story or share some 'words of wisdom' with Matt. Ted was a good influence on an 18 yr. old boy, right??? Ted was at our house just recently and brought Rick a DVD from the Corvette Museum in Kentucky, Trish and he had just returned from a trip there. You can only imagine how much that DVD means to Rick, especially now. It just doesn't seem real that Ted is gone from us so quickly. To the entire family...you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Ted is gone but he will never be forgotten.

One of my greatest memories of Ted (which is hard to pick) was the way he made me feel as a daughter-in-law and loved his grandbabies to the ends of the earth. Ok,and the tickle fights when he and Chad would gang up on Trish until the grandkids would come to the rescue. Papa Ted will truly be missed. We love you Papa Ted!!! Mom sat up in a wheel chair today for a half an hour and teased the PT's about torturing her! That's the Mom I know, SPUNKY! We got to talk for over an hour this morning about how amazing calling hours were last night, and the amount of people who had incredible and simple and sweet and goofy things to say about Dad. I certainly could not remember everything, so please continue to share your stories so Mom can get the "big picture" the way I did last night. WOW. Simply amazed.

I am Teds uncle. Until I returned to Richwood in February of '07, I had only seen Ted a few times during the 55 years or so that I was gone, but we did keep in touch. When my wife passed away, I let it be known that I was returning to Richwood, and (as I now know), Teddy was elated .I drove directly to his and Trish's house, and they welcomed me warmly, with many hugs, a few kisses, and a lot of tears. Ted, (and Trish as well) was one of the most warm and loving loving people that I have ever known, and he wasn't afraid or ashamed to hug me and tell me that he loved me. And - he was like that with everyone. He never met a stranger, and I would bet a years pay that he didn't have an enemy.
One of his greatest pleasures was harassing me, teasing me, and just in general, giving me a "bad" time. BUT - he was never mean about it. Whenever I had surgery, he insisted that I "lay up" at his house to heal, and we joked that the back bedroom was "Dan's room" .
I could tell story after story about Teddy, but I won't. I will only say that I loved him, STILL love him, and will go to my grave loving him for the man that he was . He was my nephew, he was my "baby" brother, and he was the son that I never had.
The thing that I will miss the most with Ted gone is - the ring of my cell phone, or the slamming of my back door, and the inevitable and invariable question, delivered in the roar of a bear, - "Where the hell are you" ?
I'll miss you son, God how I'll miss you.

We want to just let you know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Betsy, I remember growing up just up the street from you. I have been remembering one time one of our dogs we had for the junk yard got loose and was chasing me up the street while I was riding my bike. Your dad ran out and somehow grabbed the dog and muzzeled him and took him back. I am always telling Tim how Ted saved my life that day. Precious memories. He was a great man. God Bless all of you.

Dear Betsey and Family,
I know it's been years but the shock and sadness I felt at your fathers death was overwhelming. Ted was an amazing man and had a kind word or hug for everyone. I remember coming home from college and waiting for a young man to pick me up for a date for the first time and your dad graciously offered to stand in and be my "Dad" for the evening. I was so blessed know your dad and I am sure there are many many people who feel the very same way.

There are no words that can possibly express the sadness felt in the heart's of everyone who was blessed to know Ted and touched by the many ways he expressed his love. May the treasured moments of life spent together that have been tucked away in your heart be a reminder of the love and joy he brought into your life, as the memories will last a lifetime.
May you know that he touched my life.
