Ronald E. Shirea Sr.
Ronald E. Shirea Sr.Ronald E. Shirea Sr. age 66, of Bucyrus, formerly of LaRue died after a short, yet courageous fight with cancer on June 2, 2009 at 5:34 PM at OSU Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born April 25, 1943 in Kenton, Ohio to the late John S. (Tim) and Letha (Denman) Shirea. On February 28, 1964 he married W. Jean Burchett and she survives in Bucyrus.
Ron was a 1961 graduate of Ridgedale High School.  Right out of high school he began working at Tecumseh Products in Marion.  He worked there and held various positions within the company for 23 years. He then worked for Tri-County Limestone/Shelly Materials for 21 years as a heavy equipment operator. He also worked for various farmers around LaRue,Meeker and Morral. Most recently for special friends Joe and Janet Prettyman.
Along with his wife Jean, Ron is survived by two children; Ron (Connie) Shirea Jr. of Bucyrus and Virginia (Phil) Adams of LaRue. Brother John S. (Dick) Shirea of Roundhead and sister Jean (Keith) Anderson of Indian Lake. Grandchildren;Tim and Sandy Adams of LaRue and Kylie Shirea of Bucyrus. Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law; Wanda Hecker of LaRue, John and Ruth Burchett of Morral, Amy and Mirle Thompson of Meeker. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins including special cousin Mary Hamm of Marion.
He was preceded in death by a son and daughter who were twins, his parents Tim and Letha Shirea, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Merle and Ethel Burchett, sister-in-law Phyllis Burchett, Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Buck and Sue Hickman and Brother-in-law and best friend John Hecker.
Ron was a avid fisherman. He enjoyed  spending time with family fishing on Twin Lakes in Cheboygan, Michigan.  He could spend hours on the lake with his best friend John reeling in pike, bass and bluegill.  There was always  an ice cream cone or milkshake on the line for the person who caught the biggest fish and he did he best to be the winner. He enjoyed the outdoors and taking long drives to look for all forms of wildlife.
Ron’s pride andjoy was his grandchildren.  He enjoyed watching them grow and took great joy in all of their accomplishments.  He also enjoyed his buddies (Jack) and (Rusty.) He always made sure he brought a dog biscuit, or two for them each time he visited.
Graveside Services will be held Friday June 5, 2009 at Noon at Fairview Cemetery. Minister will be the Rev. Edward W. Fugate. At Ron”s request there will be no calling hours. The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue is in charge of arrangements.
Those who wish may make contributions to the family.  Pall Bearers will be Ron Shirea Jr, Tim Adams, Phil Adams, Jay Hecker, Bucky Hecker, Bobby Hickman John Burchett, Keith Anderson and Larry Butz.
