Alice Mae MajorCrossAlice Mae Major age 88 of Richwood died early Saturday morning January 1, 2011 at the Gables in Green Pastures in Marysville

She was born May 8, 1922 in Johnstown to the late Perry Allen and Anna (Gray) Phipps, she was also predeceased by her husband Charles Major, they were married November 16, 1940 in Greenup, Ky. And he died May 2, 1987. Also preceded by 1 son Charles Major, 3 brothers: Elmer, Harry and Lewis Phipps and 3 sisters: Cecil Skidmore, Minnie Hendrickson and Mary Belle Phipps

Alice was a homemaker, member of the Union Baptist Church, enjoyed sewing and reading. The true calling in her life was taking care of and loving her devoted family.

Surviving are 4 daughters: Charlotte (Richard) Higgins of Richwood, Carolyn (Virgil) Goins of Richwood, Sharon Major of Richwood and Wanda (Glenn) Compton of Byhalia, 4 sons: Paul (Margene) Major of LaRue, Wayne (Rebecca) Major of Bellefontaine, David Major of Richwood and William (Anita) Major of LaRue

21 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren 1 great great Grandson

1 sister: Ida Phipps of Richwood

Funeral services will be held Wednesday January 5, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, where friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 pm, Pastor Brian Moser will officiate, burial will be in the Price Cemetery

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society and or the Alzheimer’s Assn.
