Paula Askew Webb
Paula Askew WebbPraising HimPaula Askew Webb, age 50 of Richwood, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning, January 15, 2011, at Mt. Carmel St. Ann's Hospital in Columbus.  She was born July 20, 1960, in Marion to James and Ann (Norris) Askew, who both survive in Marion.

On November 22, 1980, she married Jeff Webb in the First Presbyterian Church, Marion, and he survives.

She was an active member of the Richwood Church of Christ where she was currently serving as secretary.  She participated in the Richwood Church of Christ small group Bible Study, led by Willie Stoltzfus, which Paula thoroughly loved.  She was very active in the Central Ohio Emmaus Community, serving on many different teams, and was an avid North Union Wildcat supporter, particularly of whichever sport in which her girls were participating.  A 1978 Pleasant High School graduate, she loved being outdoors and playing tennis.  She had recently been creating video tributes for many folks in the area.

On February 26, 2003 Paula was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer and has been "Praising Him in the Storm" ever since.  Her quiet faithfulness and dry sense of humor have been an inspiration to many.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her two daughters, Samantha and Stephanie at home; three sisters, Judi (Terry) Robinson, Wayne; Peggy (Dennis) Zimmerman, Allentown, Pennsylvania; Melissa (Don) Reid, Marion; a brother, Robert (Natalie) Askew, New Bloomington; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Julie Webb, Marion; her mother and father-in-law, Ray and Janet Webb, Marion; special friends, Matt and Connie Haller, Richwood.

A celebration of Paula's life will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Richwood Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Zimmerman and Pastor Matt Craig officiating.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Friends may call from 3 to 8 PM on Tuesday at the Richwood Church of Christ, 29063 Sivey Road, Richwood, OH  43344.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Paula Webb Fund, C/O Richwood Banking Company, 28 N. Franklin Street, Richwood, OH  43344

Dear Jeff, Samantha, & Stephanie,I know you all and I knew Paula, not personally but as a part of this  community.  I want you all to know, she is the reason I went to church today, I admired the way she gave all the praise to God, through him she shined.  I want to do that with my family.  I want them to know I believe, because I believe! Thank you Paula, you truly were an angel!

Brother Jeff,

I just read the news of Paula's passing.  I am so saddened by this, but I know that Paula is singing His anthem now.
I know your pain and wish so much that I could be there.  I leave in the morning for a business trip to Japan and won't return until the 2nd week of Feb.  Please know that you and your family have been raised in prayer regularly by me and special prayers raised at my church in Marysville for the past few weeks after I had heard that Paula had been taken to the hospital.  I will continue lifting you and the girls up daily.  You and Paula have always been such an inspiration and I pray that God will give you all the peace and understanding you need to move forward.  You were my support during dad's early days of his stroke and such a good friend.  If I can do anything else to help you, please let me know.

God Bless you and give you rest!

As I did not get the chance to know Paula, what an amazing fighter she is through the stories I have heard through facebook. May the Lord be with Jeff, Stephanie, Samantha, and the rest of the family for them to find peace she is in Heaven, for the girls to know their mother is so proud, and for Jeff to know he was an awesome man taking care of his wife for 8 years. May you find strength to go on the rest of these days. Always know you have a huge community backing you up, and praying for you.

Jeff,Samanha and Stephanie, first of all I love you dearly.  I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to be a part of your lives.  Paula kept the good fight of faith and we are all witnesses of that.  The word of God tells us that absent from the body means present with the Lord.  How awsome is that, no more hurt pain  or suffering.  She is with her creator, her Father and her Savior. We are going to miss her but she gave us her all and I praise God that she was a part of my life. You all are family and with God's help we will get through this time of sadness.  My love to you all.

Paula was a walking sermon. Her passion for life and love for her Lord Jesus Christ were very evident in the few occassions that we fellowshiped together at community united church. The faith of Paula and also of her family was unshakeable and left a lasting impression on myself and the members of our congregation. May the peace of God blanket you in this time of sorrow and may the legacy of Paula Webb live on for generations to come. Our deepest sympathy.

Dear Mr. Webb and family,
I'm part of a prayer group at Scotts of which Annette Chapman belongs.  I didn't know your wife and mom personally but feel like I do to a degree.  My condolences to you all.  She must have been a special lady.  She has been in my prayers.  May the Love of Christ fill the void that is there when one of our loved ones goes to their eternal home.  The Good News is that our journey will eventually take us home too to be with our Father and our Loved Ones.  May His peace be yours today.

Jeff, Blondie, & Princess Stef,
We are so very sorry for your loss.  Paula was the bravest, strongest, and most spiritual woman we have known.  She was extraordinary beyond words and we have all lost someone special in our lives.  You girls are a part of her that lives on and she was so proud of both of you.  Her love for all of you and her faith is what kept her going and fighting for so long and so hard.  She was a true Champion to all of us, we feel truly blessed to have known her and spent time with her and all of you.  She is cancer free, and pain free.  You are all in our thoughts and prayers, today and always.  We love you all.

I received a call from Lynda Woodburn Shaffer, PHS class of '78, who had learned of Paula's passing. It's been a long time since those good old days at Pleasant High School. Paula was my classmate from 4th grade on, my neighbor just across Richland Road (in a house my parents considered buying around the time Mr. and Mrs. Askew must have been house-shopping), and my playmate through junior high. We shared the occasional ride to and from PHS in my parents' 1965 Mustang. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. Her obituary was a lovely tribute to a life well-lived and to a constant love of family and friends. I am so sorry that this illness ended her life so young and has deprived her loved ones of her daily presence. Please accept my most sincerre condolences.
