Richard V. “Dick” Iler
Richard V. “Dick” IlerFlagRichard V. “Dick” Iler, age 82 of Prospect, died early Saturday morning, February 4, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.  He was born March 10, 1929 near Caledonia to the late Frank Vernon and Mildred “Fern” (Reed) Iler McCoy.

On June 4, 1950 he married the former Dorothy “Dot” Shenefield and she survives in Prospect.

He retired as a General Traffic Manager for GTE where he had worked for over 40 years.  He was a member of the I. T. P. A.  A U. S. Navy veteran, he was a member of the Stephen J. Chaney VFW Post 7201 in Marion.  He was a past member of the Prospect Lions Club.  A member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prospect, he served on the church council for 10 years.  He was an avid golfer and fisherman and played in the Tuesday Morning Seniors Golf League at Kings Mill Golf Course where he was a past treasurer.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kevin R. (Nancy) Iler, Danville, California; Kirk R. (Jennifer) Iler, Westerville; seven grandchildren, Amy (Seth) Iler-McKinney, Morgan Rose Iler, Brittany Jane Iler, Chloe Nicole Iler, Zachary Richard Iler, Clifford (Taylor) McGowen, Clayton (Leslie) McGowen; two great-grandchildren, Molly Rose McGowen, Piper Lane McGowen; and a sister, Phyllis (Eddie) Curren, Marion.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Noon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Prospect with Pastor Rahel Hahn officiating.  Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the Marion County United Veterans Council.  Friends may call the day of the service beginning at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s.  The family is being assisted by Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Prospect.

Memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 200 E. Water Street, Prospect, OH  43342.

It's been a quick year and still miss Dick at our weekly breakfasts and when the golf season starts.  Just miss not seeing him out and about.  Dot is doing well.
