Dorothy L. Gast
Dorothy L. GastEasternStarDorothy L. Gast, age 95 of Radnor, died peacefully Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at her home.  She was born April 7, 1918 to the late Stanley M. and Flossie Marie (Price) Hoopman.

On April 17, 1938 she married Earnest K. “Earnie” Gast in Hartville and he died February 16, 2008.

A 1936 graduate of Pleasant High School, she was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church and had been an active member of the former Zion United Church of Christ, where she played the organ and piano.  In her younger days, Dorothy had been a beautician, and had worked at the former Newmans Corner Dairy Bar.  She had also worked at Pleasant Schools.  She was a good cook, a few of her specialties being mac and cheese, butterscotch pie and red velvet cake.

She was a member of George Lewis Behrens Chapter 504 Order of the Eastern Star in Delaware where she received her 60-year pin, and the former Prospect Chapter 69 where she had served as Worthy Matron.  She was also a member of the Pleasant and Prospect Senior Citizens and the Jolly Joysters.  Dorothy enjoyed watching sports, being an avid OSU fan, and enjoyed traveling to 26 countries and all fifty states with her husband, Earnie.

She is survived by three nieces, Judy (Glenn) Schultz, Richwood; Marsha Mack, Marion; and Suzi (Bruce) Modlin, Omaha, Nebraska; a nephew, Gary (Barbara) Bell, Radnor; a sister, Marie Mack, Marion; special friends, Don and Virginia Goodin, Radnor, numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a nephew, Eddie Mack.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Prospect United Methodist Church with Pastor Carolyn Christman officiating.  Burial will follow in Radnor Cemetery.  Friends may call Sunday December 8, 2013 from 2 to 4 PM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood, where an Eastern Star service will be held at 4:00.
