Dear Mr. Mitchell,

I have many, precious memories of lessons received from you, including at your home (almost 10 years worth). Your wife was always so sweet and kind to me. I am sharing my music in a fair-sized church, both at the piano and organ. I thank you for this. Its been a saving grace in my life. May even now your music be a means of consolation, in this your great loss.

I am so sorry to hear of Mildred's passing.  I remember some great times when my son,Kevin Ackerman was a Kindergarten student in her class. I went in to help make a very big Easter Bunny out of chicken wire.  The children stuck squares of toilet paper into make it fluffy.  I helped "Millie" in many ways that year.   I taught kindergarten for a couple of years in New Bloomington and later went on to teach preschool at NU before retiring. She was my mentor.  Love to all the family and prayers for strength at this difficult time.  Nancy Ackerman Wiley

Mrs. Mitchell was my Kindergarten teacher in 1980, and such a sweet, patient and wonderful lady.  She made Kindergarten a pleasure for a timid student and for all in her class.  I have never forgotten her… my deepest sympathies to the family.

Mrs Mitchell was my kindergarten teacher back in 1976. When people ask me who my favorite teacher was, I often say  Mrs. Mitchell. I remember her kindness, compassion, and love. I felt loved in her  class... And I was one of those kids that really needed it. She was a wonderful woman.
Prayers for your family.

Ms. Mitchell was my kindergarten teacher in 1997. I am probably one of her younger students, but when I saw her a few years ago she still knew me by name. She was one of the sweetest teachers I ever had. She was such a blessing to the Elgin community. We lost an amazing teacher, but heaven gained a loving angel. My prayers and condolences to the family, friends, former students, and community of Ms. Mitchell.
