Edna Alberta Poe
Edna Alberta PoeYellowRoseEdna Alberta Poe, 80 of Richwood died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Union County.  She was born November 7, 1933 in Somersville to the late Edgar and Leona (Griffith) Jackson.

On December 1, 1951 she married Archie Arthur Poe in Richmond, Indiana, and he died March 11, 1994 after 43 years.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Poe; three brothers, Kenneth, Eddie and Ernie Jackson; a sister, Erma June Jackson Hoagland.

She is survived by her son, Alan (Fonda) Poe, Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Gregory Alan Poe, Joshua Corbin Poe, Chandal Poe, Andrea Poe, Terri Ann Nye; great-grandchildren, Hannah Poe, Areanna Poe, Katie Poe, Ethan Puckett, Taylor McCloud, Nicholas Orosto, Jacob Orosto, Angel Orosto, Katalina Orosto; a sister, Donita Moore, LaRue; and  close friend, Brian “Barney” Jones.

She and her husband had enjoyed country music and dancing.  She was an avid doll collector and enjoyed her children and grandchildren.  Edna loved going to yard sales and flea markets.  She kept in touch by telephone with her son Alan, who lives in Arizona.  She also made trips with her friend Barney to visit Alan and her grandchildren.  Alan and Fonda would send her photo albums of the grandchildren to keep in touch.  Edna was ¾ Cherokee Indian, which is evident in her son’s high cheek bones.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Matthew Craig officiating.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.  Burial will take place at a later date in the Broadway Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home to help the family with expenses.

Alan, I am sorry for the loss of your mother. She was a very beautiful person on the inside and out. She will be missed. I still have the little cow salt and pepper shakers she gave me. :-)
