Robert Eugene Allen
Robert Eugene AllenMasonryRobert Eugene Allen, 81 of Prospect, died Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Kingston Residence of Marion.  He was born November 25, 1932 in Columbus.  On July 28, 1956 he married the former Beverly Brobeck in Richwood, and she survives in Prospect.

A former member of the Ohio Air National Guard, he served with the 121st Supply Squadron, stationed in Etain, France from 1961 to 1962 during the Berlin Crisis.  A 32nd degree Mason, he was a Past Master of Mt. Carmel #303 F&AM in Richwood, and was a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus and the Aladdin Shrine Temple.

He had received his Senior Engineering Technician Certification from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies.  He worked for ODOT for thirty years as a Civil Engineer.  He then worked for Hefner Construction in Celina for ten years.

He was a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prospect where he had served as Deacon.  Bob was known for his quick wit and had an ornery side, always ready to tell a joke.  Spending time with his family was the most important thing to Bob.  He enjoyed taking long Sunday drives and tinkering around the home.

Besides his loving wife, he is also survived by a son, Doug (Deanna Hankins) Allen, Franklin, Tennessee; a daughter, DeAnn (Chris) Fleming, Cincinnati; six grandchildren, Brogan Allen, Bram Allen, Alexa Fleming, Zachary Fleming, Mallory Fleming, and Ryan Fleming.

Private family services with Masonic Rites were held at Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood.  Burial followed in the Claibourne Cemetery with Pastor Sarah Schaaf officiating.

The Allen family is deeply grateful for the loving care Bob received from the staff at Kingston as well as Heartland Hospice.

Memorial gifts may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 1379 Dublin Road, Columbus, OH  43215 or Heartland Hospice, 685 Delaware Ave., Marion, OH  43302.

Condolences to Beverly, the children and grandchildren.
When I called my brother, Glenn, to tell him of Bob's passing, he said he still has fond memories of growing up with Bob in Jackson Township.  He especially remembers an exciting experience riding horses, and he remembers the delicious German chocolate cake with caramel icing Bob's mother made for his birthday.
Loy enjoyed sharing the Masonic experience with Bob.
Blessing,
Becky George

Bev and Family,
We are truly sorry for your loss and if there is anything we can do, we are just across the street. Bob was a good man and I will miss our lawn mower talks in the yard and his humor. He always would say " what are you doing feller " and would proceed to discuss the world issues. I never knew when I would be mowing and the next thing I would know he would be sitting in my yard waiting for me to stop. I really appreciated him as a good neighbor!
