Florence Jane Freeman
Florence Jane FreemanYellowRoseFlorence Jane Freeman “Cricket”, 92 of Marysville, passed on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at home after a short illness with dementia. She was born December 7, 1921, in Swan Creek to the late Emory and Miriam (Slater) Waugh.

Florence grew up In Gallipolis where she played basketball and ran track in school.  She rode a horse to a one room school house and earned the nickname “Cricket” for being the highest jumper in school. She met Forrest Deloyd “Joe” Freeman, her husband, at the age of 5.  Joe lived next door.  At the age of 17, she hitchhiked to Columbus to be with Joe.  They were married on October 14, 1939, and she became a dedicated, stay-at-home mother.

She loved collecting keepsakes, completing crossword puzzles, and watching her "shows" on television.  She loved her dog, Tiny, and enjoyed trips with her family.

Florence was a strong-willed, determined, and loving mother. A no-nonsense firecracker, she had a quirky sense of humor.  She helped her kids as much as possible, and loved her boys; from racing barefoot with them to listening to them play music, to cooking and caring for them and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her four sons, Larry, Roger, Dale, and Charles; twelve grandchildren, Chris, Timmy, Scotty, Brian, Nikki, Gina, David, Jeremy, Amanda, Jessie, Jenna, and Sarah; numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Forrest Freeman, on August 18, 2005, whom she missed with all of her heart; a sister, Hazel and brother, Lester; and her beloved poodles: Misty and Tiny.

The family would like to thank the Loving Care Hospice for making it possible for her to be at home with her family during her final days.

In her bible, before she passed she wrote to her sons: "I love all you boys and hope none of you forget me and dad. I had lots of fun when you were growing up. Love you all, Mommy Florence."

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood.  Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery.  Friends may call from 5 to 7 on Friday at the funeral home in Richwood.

Memorial gifts may be made to Loving Care Hospice, P. O. Box 613, Marysville, OH 43040.
