He was bom April 28,1949, in Marion, Ohio. His parents are Richard (Marcia) Dean of Kenton and Mary K. (Dale) Hughes of LaRue.
On Feb. 17, 1969, he married Candace Creviston, they later divorced.

He was born in a log cabin near Meeker to the late Howard and Grace (Stiverson) Dean. He was also preceded in death by a son: Howard Hugh Dean, siblings: Jack (Donna) Dean, Virginia Dean (James) Wiseman and Doris (Foy) Shoewalter.
