Beryl Chloe Lingo
LARUE — Beryl Chloe Lingo, age 94, of 151 E. School St.. LaRue, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at 4:45 a.m. at Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware.
She was born Jan. 13, 1905, in Union County, to the late Motes Leondis and Estella Mae (Smith) Mettler.
In 1931, she married Walter H. Lingo, and he died in 1966.
She was a member of the LaRue United Methodist Church, graduated from Jackson Rural High School in Essex, Ohio, on May 4, 1922, then graduated from Marion Business College on Sept. 3, 1924. She was executive secretary of the Oorang Kennels, professional football team the Oorang Indians, secretary of the Marion County Civil Defense during World War II, was assistant manager of Crystal Lake Pool and Amusement Park. She was very active in both Boy and Girl Scouts, and member of the Prospect Senior Citizens.
She is survived by one son, Robert A. (Judith) Lingo of Delaware; three grandchildren, Patrick (Jayne) Lingo of Delaware, Michael R. (Terry) Lingo of East Lansing, Mich, Mrs. Jacquline (Michael) Cleland of Marion; four great-grandchildren, Amber Cleland of Marion, Ryan and Weston Lingo of Delaware and Stephanie Lingo of Michigan; one half brother, Damon Ledley of Marion. One son, Rex Lingo, and two brothers, Morris Mettler and Cloyd Mettler, are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 3,1999, at 1 p.m. at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in LaRue, Ohio. Minister will be the Rev. Darlene Weidner. Burial in the LaRue Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in LaRue from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday.
Those who wish may make contributions to the American Heart Association.
