Lawrence W. Davis
RICHWOOD — Lawrence W. Davis, 94, died early Friday morning, November 26, 1993 at Marion General Hospital.
He was born Oct. 18,1899 in Orient to John W. and Hattie M. Wilkins Davis.
On Nov. 23, 1923, Mr. Davis married the former Bertha Hickok. She died Jan. 1,1980.
A retired farmer, he was state sheep shearing champion in 1932.
Mr. Davis attended the Prospect United Methodist Church. He was a 32nd degree Mason, amember and past master of the Mt Carmel Lodge F&AM, Richwood, and a member of the Claibourne Grange.
He is survived by two sons, Kenneth L. Davis, Richwood, and John W. Davis, Columbus; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John (Esther) Brugger, Marion; and friend Nelda Hedges, Prospect. Two brothers, Clarence and David Davis, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Stofcheck Funeral Home in Richwood, with the Rev. Jeffrey Jewell officiating. Calling hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Claibourne Cemetery, with Robert Davis, Gale Perkins, Robert Hickok, Brent Davis, George Orahood and Glen Davis serving as pallbearers.
Contributions may be made to the Prospect United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
