Merle Lee Landon
FlagMerle Lee Landon, 79, of Richwood and Fort Pierce, Fla., died Sunday,
Dec. 2, 2001, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center after a one-year illness.
He was retired after 37 year as manager of Isaly's and Smith Dairy and was
an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Prospect United
Methodist Church, Richwood VFW Post 870, a 50-year member of the former
Prospect Lodge 444 and Sojourners 653 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley
of Columbus. He was a lifetime member and past post master of Prospect
American Legion Post 368 and was on the original board for the Sun Swim
Pool in Prospect. He owned, trained and raced harness horses for many
years.
He was born Oct. 8, 1922, in Prospect to the late George and Ethel Eaton
Landon and was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Wood and Vera Longfellow
and a brother, Ernie Landon Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Elaine Temple Landon whom he married
Nov. 21, 1978, in Richwood; four sons, Mickey (Linda) Landon of Marion,
Kurt (Pam) Creamer of Mount Victory, Kraig Creamer of Bentonville, Ark.,
and Blue Creamer of Mount, Victory; four grandsons, Kevin Landon of
Columbus, Kyle Landon of Marion, Kevin Creamer of Findlay and Kody
Creamer of Mount Victory; a granddaughter, Katie Creamer of Bucyrus; and
a brother, Karl (Mary) Landon of Prospect.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ballinger Funeral
Home in Richwood. The Rev. David L. Hoffman will officiate and burial will
be in the Prospect Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Prospect United Methodist
Church building fund.
