Paul W. Clay
Paul W. ClayHorseshoe PitchingPaul W. Clay, age 74, of Richwood, formerly of LaRue, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Marion General Hospital.  He was born January 27, 1938 in LaRue to the late Frank E. and Ferne Marie (Uncapher) Clay.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Clay Gulick, and two sisters, Jean Ann Clay and Betty Allen.

On January 31, 1961 he married the former M. Jean Pulver in Illinois and she survives in Richwood.

He was a 1956 graduate of LaRue High School.  A retired farmer, he also worked at Whirlpool for over 30 years in the quality control department.  He was a member of the Marion, Kenton and Marysville Horseshoe Associations and was a 4-H advisor and was active with the Richwood Independent Fair.  He and his wife, Jean had been foster parents for over 20 years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Brett (Rose) Clay, Gahanna; two daughters, Paula Shaffer, California; Vicki (Tim) Smith, Cincinnati; nine grandchildren, Branden and Alex Gulick; Aaron and Ashley Shaffer; Cody and Kayle Smith; Felecia, Quinten and Sierra Clay and a special nephew.

Graveside services will be Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Price Cemetery with Pastor Dave Lippert officiating.  There will be no calling hours.

Paul and his wife we the best foster family i ever had. They came to see me in Sidney in there RV.i hope God rewards you and blesses you for all eternity for the love you showed and gave me....love Charles Swartz aka Charles Swartz-Bowman now.
