Robert DeMar Tuttle
Robert DeMar TuttleFlagRobert DeMar Tuttle, 77 of Willowbrook at Delaware Run, formerly of Richwood and Prospect died unexpectedly Monday morning, January 6, 2014 at his home.  He was born August 6, 1936 to the late Richard N. and Mary Jane (King) Tuttle Smith.  He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Roger A. Smith.

Bob graduated from Prospect High School in 1954 and from Bowling Green State University in 1960 while earning an officer's commission that began ten years of service with the Ohio Natural Guard-Army Reserves and attaining the rank of Captain.  He taught health, physical education, biology, general science, and drivers' training at North Union High School in Richwood for 31 years, retiring in 1992. During his last years of teaching, Bob would watch the movie "Patton" before the first day of school in order to better prepare himself for the upcoming year's challenges.  Before retiring, Bob became a very active antique business man and used a blend of family names for his business, King Tut's Antiques.  As an avid fisherman, he had a strong interest in outdoor conservation.  While he taught at North Union High School, he and his students beautified and improved the property by planting trees.  He was a member of the former Prospect 444 F&AM.  He also enjoyed being an active brother of the Durward Lodge 153 Knights of Pythias in Prospect.

He is survived by two brothers, Russell H. (Marlene) Tuttle, Chicago; Richard Michael Tuttle, Delaware; and a nephew and niece, Matthew and Nicole Tuttle.

Friends may call on Friday, January 10, 2014 from 5 to 7 PM at the K of P Lodge in Prospect where a Knights of Pythias service will be conducted at 7:00 PM, followed by military honors conducted by the Richwood Area Veterans.  Graveside services will be Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Claibourne Cemetery with Pastor Joe Rhea officiating.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Durward Lodge 153 Knights of Pythias, 100 South Elm Street, Prospect, OH  43342.

He was my biology teacher in high school. I ran into him at his antique store in Delaware years later, and bought a chest from him that I still cherish. I liked Mr. Tuttle. My condolences
