Kevin Eugene Boblenz
Kevin Eugene BoblenzCorn FieldKevin Eugene Boblenz, 71, of New Bloomington passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday October 5, 2023.

Kevin, better known as Bo, was born to the late Robert and Martha Boblenz on April 17, 1952, in Marion. Kevin married the love of his life, Janice (Landon) Boblenz on June 23, 1974 in Green Camp. They spent their entire life creating a world of love through their three children, family, and friends.

Bo went right out of college to become a teacher at Ridgemont High School for 30 years. Here he became a coach for the Ridgemont Gophers for many years. During his agricultural teachings, he became a mentor to hundreds of students who would walk the hallways. Many of these students became some of his favorite people throughout the decades. After retirement, he kept his love of farming and the world of show pigs to the top of his day-to-day adventures. It was no surprise to catch him on the phone with any one of his friends talking about what was the next big thing. He would spend his days talking or going on adventures with many of his best friends but no more than his grandson, Mason.

On the days he had downtime, you would always find him at his home watching baseball, basketball, and most importantly football. Ohio State football was never missed. If by chance there weren’t sports on, he would always tell you the best thing was Westerns.

Bo was so proud to be a family man. His biggest pride was the family that he and his wife created. He is survived by his wife Janice, their children Matthew (Megan) Boblenz, Jennifer (Eric) Clark, and Nikki (Marty) Morgan, all of New Bloomington. His grandchildren; Mason (Sidney) Clark, Madison (Collin) Rollison, Braelynn Bails, Bo Morgan, Emily (Ben) Kibler, Eric Hesson, and Garret (Jalaya) Hesson. Bo was also blessed with watching his family extend to his great-grandchildren, Ryker, Wyatt, Addilyn, Jayce, Jadelyn, and the last bundle of joy Dani. Bo is survived by his two brothers, Craig (P.J.) Boblenz of Espyville and Gary (Becky McKinley) Boblenz of New Bloomington. Along with many extended family and friends, Bo leaves behind his good friend Greg Edmonstone.
The Boblenz family was beyond grateful that they were blessed to have Kevin as their patriarch for 71 years.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday October 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Pastor Tanyce Addison will officiate, burial will follow in the Agosta Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 3 to 7 at the funeral home in LaRue.

Bo was as nice as anyone I’ve ever known. During our early years he was a fierce competitor on the grid iron and our practices most often left me with lots of bruises and headaches as I was required to attempt to block him. I loved lining up beside him on Friday nights. He remained the same lovable and happy guy thought out his life. I’ll always treasure one of my last visits with him on his farm. Simply put Bo was Salt of the Earth.

May God wrap each and everyone of you in his loving arms during this journey of grief.  Kevin is and always will be the example every man should inspire to be as a husband, father, son, and grandfather.  He made you feel loved and special and always made you laugh with a tale or saying he had.  May each of you carry on his legacy and always keep his memory alive with your good deeds of kindness to all.  God bless you all, I wish I could be there but know I will be thinking and praying for you.  Love -Celeste

To Jan and family, You have my family’s deepest sympathies.  I worked with Bo at Ridgemont for several years.  Those years being around Bo made working at the school a very enjoyable time. I will always remember the great fun we had at the Vo Ag basketball games, the trips to the Farm Science Review and state conventions.  I will never forget the conversations we had all them years or the pranks we did to each other.  Bo had a great sense of humor and I will always remember his big smile and wonderful laugh.  Bo truly made everybody feel good and the students adored him so much.He was  kind and caring  to all and he will be greatly missed.  Thank you Bo for being a part of my life!  You made my life richer. Rest in peace my friend, Go Bucks!  Greg Johnson and Family

Words can not express my gratitude for BO and the life opportunities he gave me. My fondest memory of BO was; the day I signed my Letter of Intent to play football at University of Cincinnati. I was a young, dumb kid who didn't realize the importance. BO did. He was so excited. It took me years to realize, less than 1% of High School boys play division I football. BO knew. BO worked hours to market me and get me that opportunity for a scholarship and an education. I wasn't that good. BO s opportunity led to a Masters Degree, a successful career, many life experiences and memories. That young, dumb kid could of never imagined. BO knew the importance of that one day. For that, I will forever love him.

No words can adequately express the devastating loss of your beloved husband and father Kevin. He was one of the most special men I have known. Teacher, coach, farmer and businessman. Kevin had many talents and still managed to be a humble and likable person. I always admired him during our friendship of more than 50 years. He had an amazing number of friends who know him and loved him just as I did. My heartfelt condolences to his loving family. Newk

“Mr Bo”, as I called him, was a great man and a good teacher. I was an exchange student at Ridgemont High in 2004-2005 and took his VoAg class. Not only did he teach me to appreciate farming (I was a city kid). But he also gave me a memorable tour of his vast farm where I got meet his lovely family. We stayed in touch over FB. So his influence truly reached across oceans. My sincere condolences to his family. ~Leo S.

I have had the absolute pleasure of being with, not just Kevin, but the Boblenz crew for the past couple of years as their Schwan man. Kevin was by far one of my favorite people to stop and visit with, he not only showed me so much kindness, but my daughter as well. I always enjoy going and just enjoying his company. I will very sadly miss him so much. I feel for and cry right alongside with the family. I apologize I couldn’t make it to pay my deepest respects for him today, but I will love him and miss him as my own family.
